Dr Max Levin combines work as a resident physician at the Department of Oncology with an assistant professorship at The Wallenberg Laboratory.
His group is focused on energy metabolism and angiogenesis in atherosclerosis and cancer. In particular, they are interested in elucidating how mismatch between demand and supply of oxygen and nutrients within the tissue microenvironment promote disease progression. The further aim is to identify energy metabolic targets to optimize treatment, potentially reducing complications of atherosclerosis and improving survival in cancer.
